Unshaven Hair Transplant
What Is an Unshaven Hair Transplant?
An Unshaven Hair Transplant, also known as U-FUE (Unshaven Follicular Unit Extraction), is a discreet variation of the FUE technique where the hair transplant is performed without shaving the recipient area—and sometimes without shaving the donor area either. This allows patients to return to daily life immediately with little to no visible signs of surgery.
It’s ideal for people who want to maintain their existing hairstyle and keep their procedure private.
How It Works
There are typically three versions:
- Partially unshaven: Only the donor area is trimmed in thin strips, hidden beneath longer hair
- Recipient-area unshaven: The area receiving grafts is left untouched and only donor hair is trimmed
- Fully unshaven: Neither donor nor recipient areas are shaved — the most discreet option, but also the most technically demanding
Follicles are extracted individually (FUE) and implanted directly into existing hair, requiring great care to avoid damaging native follicles.
